Everton played out an entertaining draw with Spurs in North London in the final fixture of the 2018/19 season. Dier opened the scoring after 3 minutes. On the 69th minute, Theo Walcott provided a fabulous fine finish to bring things level.
Cenk Tosun then scored on 72 minutes giving Everton a thrilling lead. However to the frustration of Evertonians Spurs were allowed a way back into the game with Christian Eriksen’s equalizer in the 75th minute with a free kick earning Spurs a much-needed point.
The result means that Everton finish in 8th position, for the second successive season, but finish 3 points behind Wolverhampton Wanderers in 7th and a massive 12 points behind Manchester United. The gap between Everton’s point tally and the Champions Manchester City’s was 44 points. This represents clear need for improvement for next season.
For Spurs the result guaranteed them Champions League football for next season.
