Jonjoe Kenny: “I couldn’t say no,” he told schalke.tv via Bundlesliga.com. Kenny joined Schalke, the German top division side, on a season-long loan, earlier this month, in order to get game time and experience.
Kenny explained further “Some huge players as Leroy Sane and Raul have played here. I couldn’t believe such a big club with so much history would be interested in me.
Kenny added “To be at such a big club like Schalke will mean that I will become a better footballer. To be away from home will mean that I will develop as a person as well.”
Kenny 22, has made 31 senior appearances for Everton, having been through the youth ranks ert Goodison Park having originally signed in 2006.
He has previously spent time on loan at Wigan Athletic in 2015 making 7 appearances and at Oxford United in 2016 making 17 appearances.
Kenny has also played at every age group for England apart from the senior team. He started with the under 16’s in 2012 right through to the under 21’s in 2017.
In May 2014 Kenny was part of the victorious under 17’s who won the 2014 UEFA European Under-17 Championship and converted the match-winning penalty in the penalty shoot-out against Holland. He was subsequently named in UEFA’s team of the tournament.
